National striker Akeem Roach scored a first-half double to lead Club Sando to a come-from-behind 4-2 defeat of Police FC when the Digicel T&T Pro League 2016-17 season continued at the Larry Gomes Stadium, Malabar, yesterday.
T&T international beach soccer player Jameel Perry fired the Lawmen into 16th minute lead but within three minutes Roach drew Club Sando level. However, Police regained the lead for a second time on the day through Jibri Mc David in the 26th minute, but once again Roach came up big for Club Sando to even the contest in the 31st minute for 2-2.
In the second-half , Club Sando managed to poke its nose in front in the 61st minute courtesy a penalty converted by Kemuel Rivers while experienced campaigner Kevon Piper extended the lead to 4-2 four minutes later after which their team held on for the win to move to 21 points in sixth spot.
W Connection currently leads the table with 40 points from 16 matches, five points more than rivals and second-positioned Central FC, who have two games in hand against Point Fortin Civic and Defence Force.
Two-time reigning champions Central FC was carded to meet Pt Fortin Civic in a 3.30 pm encounter at the Larry Gomes Stadium, Malabar, on Saturday but the team from "Deep South" arrived at the venue at 4 pm, citing transportation troubles, and with the lighting system at the venue not in operation the match was called off.
