Heatwave cyclist, Jabari Whiteman withstood a competitive field and rain to pedal away with the T&T Cycling Federation's second event of the season, the 94.5 kilometres Road Race from the Audrey Jeffers Highway (foreshore) to the Toco Secondary (Keshorn Walcott High School) on Sunday.
A third placed finisher in this year's curtain raiser Whiteman completed the gruelling ride in two hours, 23.23 minutes to win both the Elite (Open) and Junior titles.
In the Elite Class, he was first home ahead of Team DPS's Tyler Cole, Barbadian Phillip Clarke (Knights FR) who won the season opener, Loremnzo Orosco (Team DPS) and Luis Diaz (The Braves).
The quartet of Garvin Nero (Team DPS), Gevan Samuel (The Braves), Akil Campbell (PSL) and Bernardo Diaz (The Braves) completed the top ten finishers.
And among the Juniors, Whiteman topped the field ahead of Cole, Orosco and Adam Francis of The Braves.
The third Road Series event, a 4km Time Trial ride will pedal off from Maracas Bay to the Lookout, on Saturday from 6.30am.
