The trio of Club Sando, St Ann's Rangers and Police will all be hoping for a confidence booster ahead of next week's Digicel Pro Bowl quarterfinals when they conclude their 2016-17 Pro League season campaign tonight.
Currently fifth on the ten-team table with 24 points from 23 matches, Club Sando stands a point behind Ma Pau Stars, which it faces in the Pro Bowl quarterfinal and will do battle with St Ann's Rangers tonight from 6pm.
However, it will not be easy task for Club Sando, as Rangers which is eight on the table with 16 points is coming off a morale boosting 5-4 sudden-death Pro Bowl qualifier win against Morvant/Laventille United on Tuesday, and with a match-up against league-leaders and hattrick of titles chasing Central FC set for the last-eight next Wednesday, will be eager for another win as well.
Mere days after hammering Pt Fortin Civic 9-0 in their Pro Bowl qualifier, Police returns to action against disappointing Morvant/Caledonia.
The Lawmen are seventh on the table with 19 points, one behind Defence Force and with a clash against four-time Pro Bowl winners, W Connection set for Wednesday in the quarterfinals coach Richard Hood will hope his charges continue their rampant form in front of goal.
Tomorrow, cellar-placed Pt Fortin Civic hosts reigning Pro Bowl champions, Defence Force from 5pm at the Mahaica Oval while on Sunday the top four teams will be in action with the league title and positions third and four still to be decided.
At Couva, two-time reigning champion Central FC with 44 points entertains third-positioned San Juan Jabloteh (29 points) while second-placed W Connection (43 points) hosts fourth on the table, Ma Pau Stars (28 points) at the Mannie Ramjohn Stadium, Marabella, both from 3.30pm.
The Dale Saunders-coached Central FC is hoping to be the first club to win the Pro League three seasons on the trot while W Connection is after an unprecedented sixth crown.
The "Savonetta Boys" as W Connection are called were crowned champions in 2000, 2001, 2005, 2011-2012 and 2013-14 came close to achieving the treble-feat twice.
The duo of Jabloteh and Defence Force also came close to achieving the hat-trick feat, but stumbled.
Jabloteh won the title two straight years on two occasions 2002, 2003-4, 2007, 2008 while
Defence Force won back-to-back twice in 2010/2011 and 2012/2013, as well as in 1999, the inaugural league season.
The battle for the league's "Golden Boot" is still open as well with Club Sando's Akeem Roach (12 goals) ahead of the chasing pack which includes Central FC captain, Darren Mitchell (ten), and Jamal Charles (W Connection), two-time winner Devorn Jorsling (Defence Force), Jerrel Britto (Ma Pau Stars), Jameel Perry (Police FC).
However, Britto has left to pick up a contract in Central America and is out of contention.
