Junior cyclist Jabari Whiteman dominated at Sunday's T&T Cycling Federation (TTCF) Road Race Series, sprinting home for the win and a maximum of nine points.
Competing in a field of over 75 cyclists Whiteman who rides for Heatwave, did not disappoint despite the participation of a number of the country's top endurance riders, finishing the gruelling 105 kilometre race from the Brian Lara Stadium in Torouba to the Arima Bye-Pass ahead of his teammate Enrique De Camarmond and third place Lorenzo Orosco from Team DPS.
Comarmond received seven points for his finish, while Orosco walked away with five points that will go towards their tally at the end of the year.
Meanwhile, Phillip Clarke of the Knights DR took fourth position that earned him three points, while Stephen Alexander of Team Foundation (2 points) and Sheldon Ramjit of Hummingbird CC (1 point) rounded off the top six finishers in the race to have received points. The top 10 riders were recorded in a group time of two hours, 34 minutes and 26 seconds as they crossed the finish line.
By virtue of winning the overall race, Whiteman also secured the win among the juniors and got five points for a total of 12 points in both categories, while Comarmond who was promoted to the juniors from Juveniles at the weekend, was second and received three points. The event, dominated by junior riders, saw Orosco in third while Tyler Cole of Team DPS was fourth.
In the Women's category, a new face in Christiane Farah of Club Breakaway claiming the win and five points and Jessica Costa of Heatwave in second.
In the Masters 40-49 division the Breakaway CC pair of Raphael Figuera and Mark Hosein secured the top two spots respectively, for five and three points while Michael Brown of Christian Wheelers was a run-away winner in the Masters 50-59. The Masters 60-69 category was won by Robert Farrell of South Hampton CC, taking the five points ahead of seasoned campaigner Godfrey Clyne of South Claine.
