T&T’s Inalsingh takes charge of WBA title fight
T&T’s top woman boxing official Shivana Inalsingh was incharge of the WBA Light heavyweight Interim clash that featured champion Russian Dimitry Bivol and American Samuel Clarkson at the MGM National Harbor, Maryland, USA on Saturday.
The event which aired on Showtime, showed Bivol winning by TKO after 1 minute and 40 seconds in the fourth round.
Bivol who takes his record to 10-0-0, outperformed a more experienced Clarkson (19-3-0), knocking him down three times in the first round.
Inalsingh, the appointed WBA Supervisor said after the bout, “This could have easily been a first round TKO for Bivol, however since the Maryland Commission and I, as the representative of the WBA, agreed to use the ABC Rules in this event, the Three (3) Knock Down WBA rule was not in effect and the fight was allowed to continue.”
Inalsingh, an active member of the Association of Ringside Physicians and a Clinical Integrative Reflexologist said “I had a professional team of Ringside Officials to work with. My expectations were clear and things went smoothly. As you can imagine, safety of the boxer is a major concern, so in the pre-fight briefing, the Referee and I took the time to review some signs of distress and the assessments to be done. The Referee, Harvey Dock made a timely call when he stopped the fight.”
Inalsingh, the daughter of famed local boxing official Dr Calvin Inalsingh, is the first woman in the Caribbean to Supervise a WBA World Title event and is Director of the WBA Female Championship Committee.
