T&T will participate in the Caribbean Regional Table-Tennis Federation Mini and Pre-Cadet (Under 11 & 13) Championship to be held in Kingston, Jamaica, from today until Saturday.

The team is self-funded and hopes to match or better the 12 medals, ten of which were gold won in this same competition last year.

This year there are six countries participating inclusive of T&T, Dominican Republic, Barbados, Guyana, St Vincent and the Grenadines, St Lucia and hosts Jamaica.

The tournament will be managed by recently appointed International Table Tennis Federation competition manager for the Caribbean Region, Vasdev Bob Roopnarine. Roopnarine is one of three persons to have successfully passed the Competition Manager’s course held last December in Barbados.

The ITTF now recognises the Caribbean Championships as world ranking tournaments and the strictest standards must be upheld.

The competition manager co-ordinates every aspect of the tournament including media releases, web site updates, draws and play procedures as well as ensures that the accommodation, meals and transport arrangements are up to the standard mandated by the ITTF.
