Tots & Tumblers gymnasts set to go
T&T’s Karessa Kirton, Adriana Housty, Amelia Ahwai, Sidney Charles and Zara-Marie Glen will participate at the Pan American Clubs Cup in Cali, Colombia from November 27 - December 4.
The five gifted gymnasts, who belongs to the Tots & Tumblers club, will also receive world class training at this event coordinated by the Pan American Gymnastic Union (PAGU) at the high-level international competition.
The programme is designed to prepare and develop gifted athletes along the pathway to elite-level gymnastics.
Tots & Tumblers president Annette Telfer said, “Because of their current ages and skill-sets, Karessa Kirton, Adriana Housty, Amelia Ahwai, Sidney Charles and Zara-Marie Glen are standing-out as having the potential to represent T&T in the sport of Artistic Gymnastics.”
The five gymnasts, who are between the ages of nine to 13, will be accompanied by coaches Clifton McDowell and Michelle Frankland.
According to Telfer, local, high-level competitive opportunities are limited and this event is crucial in paving the way towards these athletes’ joint objective of representing T&T at international games such as the Youth Commonwealth and Olympic Games, Pan American Games, Central American and Caribbean (CAC) Games.
