Red Force battle Windwards today
Boosted by the return of the West Indian duo of Jason Mohammed and Kyle Hope, the T&T Red Force will go into their Digicel CWI PCL clash today against the Windwards Volcanoes at the Queen’s Park Oval full of confidence.
The experienced duo have been included in the squad ahead of the in-form Ewart Nicholson and Isaiah Rajah. Nicholson felt the wrath of the senior men coming back because he counted two good knocks of 74 and 55 against the Barbados Pride in the opening match of the tournament at the Kensington Oval in Barbados.
The T&T Red Force has started the campaign with two drawn matches and although they were close to getting a victory in their last game against the Jamaica Scorpions, they would be disappointed that they did not use home advantage to its fullest at the Brian Lara Academy on the weekend.
Coach Kelvin Williams is confident coming up against the last placed Windwards. “The bowlers came good in the second innings of the last match and this has given them confidence going into the match against the Windwards. I am not worried about the batting because we have had two really good scores in the two matches so far.
“It is now a case for the players to continue improving and looking to dominate against the Windwards. The bowlers looked more penetrative in the second innings of the last game and they would want to take that into this clash.”
T&T is currently third is the six-team standings with 19.4 points and the Windwards are at the bottom on 10.6. Guyana Jaguars lead the pack with 40.4 after two outright wins, followed by the Leewards on 30.6.
Action gets underway at 10am today and in addition to the Red Force clash, two other matches will take place as Jamaica Scorpions play Barbados Pride at Sabina Park and Leeward Islands Hurricanes battle Guyana Jaguars at Warner Park in St Kitts.
