Local triathletes get boost from Olympian Wilson
Jason Wilson, the Caribbean’s first English-speaking representative to an Olympic Games for the sport of triathlon, will be in T&T this weekend to share his knowledge and some of his experiences to local athletes.
The clinics, which has been approved by the T&T Triathlon Federation, is being hosted by XO Multi-Sport Club.
The two-day event starts on Saturday from 6 am -9 am in Chaguaramas with focus on the senior athletes as in CARIFTA standouts Rachael Grosberg, Ayomide Gilbert-Semper, Jonathan Thompson, other CARIFTA triathletes, top sprint and Olympic distances triathletes and triathletes, who recently competed in Ironman 140.6 and Ironman 70.3 races.
The following day, junior triathletes will get their chance including Luke Ferreira, a junior CARIFTA triathlon championships gold medalist. That session runs from 6 am - 8 am along the Diego Martin Highway and later from 9 am - 11 am, there will be a session for both junior and senior athletes at the Marlins Swimming Pool in Westmoorings.
Wilson is a world ranked triathlete who represented Barbados at the 2016 Rio Olympic Games. He has a Bachelor in Environmental Engineering from the University of Guelph and has competed as a professional triathlete for just over six years.
He has a wealth of experience having raced in the World Championships, Pan American, Commonwealth and Olympic Games. Jason has conducted several coaching clinics over the last three years and has prepared many athletes to compete in races from the Sprint to Ironman distances.
The clinics have been made possible through the contributions of Dairy Dairy, Grace Kennedy and Gatorade.
