ZURICH, Switzer­land – St Lu­cian Olympic cham­pi­on Julien Al­fred will take to the track for the first time in over a month when she com­petes at the 14th Weltk­lasse Zurich League on Thurs­day in Switzer­land.

In what is ex­pect­ed to be a very com­pet­i­tive women’s 100 me­tres event, Al­fred will face off against Sha’Car­ri Richard­son of the USA, Marie Josee Ta Lou-Smith of Cote d’Ivoire and Ja­maica’s Tia Clay­ton.

The 23-year-old Al­fred has not com­pet­ed since win­ning gold in the 100 me­tres and sil­ver in the 200 me­tres at the Paris Olympics.

Al­so in the line-up will be Great Britain’s Di­ana Ash­er-Smith, who is com­ing off a win at the Lau­sanne Di­a­mond League, where she post­ed a sea­son’s best 10.88.

Sev­er­al oth­er Ja­maican ath­letes are al­so down to take part in the event, which is the last op­por­tu­ni­ty for ath­letes to earn points and qual­i­fy for the se­ries fi­nal in Brus­sels on Sep­tem­ber 13-14.

Di­a­mond League leader Rushell Clay­ton, An­drenette Knight, Janieve Rus­sell, and Olympic Games fi­nal­ist Shi­ann Salmon, who have all booked their fi­nal spots for Brus­sels, are down to run in the women’s 400m hur­dles.

With world leader Ack­era Nu­gent tak­ing a break be­fore the grand fi­nal, world cham­pi­on Danielle Williams will be the lone Ja­maican in the women’s 100m hur­dles.

Rasheed Broad­bell, who copped bronze at the Paris Olympics, will re­new his ri­val­ry with Amer­i­can Grant Hol­loway in the men’s 110-me­tre hur­dles along with com­pa­tri­ot Hansle Parch­ment, and Roshawn Clarke will com­pete in the men’s 400-me­tre hur­dles.
