The pair of Adalia Badroe and Shan­ice Cot­toy se­cured their sec­ond straight win in the T&T Vol­ley­ball Fed­er­a­tion (TTVF) Trin­ba­go Beach Vol­ley­ball Tour Un­der-23 Di­vi­sion when the two-day tour­na­ment end­ed at Cour­land at the Cour­land Beach Sports Are­na in Black Rock on Sun­day.

Com­pet­ing in the ten-team dou­ble-elim­i­na­tion tour­na­ment host­ed by the TTVF, Badroe and Cot­toy added to their pre­vi­ous tri­umph last month at Tyri­co Bay, North Coast, Las Cuevas, when they bat­tled past Ezrah Her­bert and Dae­len Liv­er­pool in a ‘Su­per Set’ 21-17.

Ear­li­er on in the main draw round-robin phase, Badroe and Cot­toy won their quar­ter­fi­nal against eighth-ranked Tiffany Chap­man and Ali­ka Hold­er 21-12, 21-4, while sixth-ranked Her­bert and Liv­er­pool edged third seeds Al­ix Pan­tin and Lily Tang 21-17, 26-24.

In the semi­fi­nals, Badroe and Cot­toy pow­ered past Un­der-18 cham­pi­ons Bian­ca Perkins and Chloe Thomp­son 21-9 and 21-13, while Her­bert and Liv­er­pool out­last­ed sev­enth-ranked Sarah Mo­hammed and Ky­la Quin­ton 19-21, 21-15, and 15-9.

Her­bert and Liv­er­pool then cre­at­ed a ma­jor up­set by de­feat­ing Badroe and Cot­toy 21-15, 21-18 in the ‘Win­ners Brack­et’ fi­nal 21-15, 21-18.

To their cred­it, Badroe and Cot­toy dust­ed off that de­feat and over­came Mo­hammed and Quin­ton in their losers’ draw semi­fi­nal, 21-13, 19-21, 15-9, to earn a chance at re­venge ver­sus Her­bert and Liv­er­pool.

In the cham­pi­onship fi­nal, Badroe and Cot­toy hum­bled Her­bert and Liv­er­pool 21-16, 21-16 to set up a ‘Su­per Set’ de­cider, which the top-ranked duo won, 21-17, to se­cure the ti­tle.

<Mor­ri­son and Miguel win on their third at­tempt>

There was great re­lief for Jerome Mor­ri­son and Jahreef Miguel in the Un­der-23 Men’s Di­vi­sion af­ter they won their first ti­tle of the sea­son fol­low­ing de­feats in the pre­vi­ous two cham­pi­onship match­es.

This was af­ter the top-ranked Mor­ri­son and Miguel won 21-10 and 21-13 against fourth-ranked Joshua Burn­ley and Janeiro Arther­ley won 21-10 and 21-13.

In the fi­nal four, Mor­ri­son and Miguel swept aside pre­vi­ous win­ners and sec­ond-ranked Jerome Jankey and his broth­er Josi­ah Jankey 21-14, 21-13, while Burn­ley topped third seeds Dar­i­on Sparks and Josie Ce­de­no, who won the Un­der-18s on Sat­ur­day, 21-14, 17-21, 18-16.

The Jankey broth­ers man­aged to se­cure a podi­um fin­ish via their de­feat of Sparks and Ce­de­no, 21-13, 20-22, 15-6, in their third-place play­off.

When the tour­na­ment served off on Sat­ur­day, Mor­ri­son and Miguel beat Dwayne Roberts and Kash­ion Al­leyne 21-13, 21-6 and Burn­ley and Arther­ley 11-21, 21-16, 15-13 af­ter a de­fault win over Nicholas Williams/De­Juan Williams in Group A.

Burn­ley and Arther­ley al­so won by de­fault against the Williamses, 21-6 and 21-14, over Roberts and Al­leyne, 21-6 and 21-14.

In Group B, Sparks and Ce­de­no topped Jay­den Dil­lon and Adriel Mark 21-1, 21-9; Jadon Mor­ri­son and Ay­den Austin 21-16, 21-17; and the Jankeys’ 21-18, 9-21, 15-10.

The Jankers end­ed sec­ond af­ter beat­ing Mor­ri­son and Austin 21-12 and 21-13 and Dil­lon and Mark 21-5 and 21-8, while Mor­ri­son and Austin beat Dil­lon and Mark 21-17 and 21-16.

In the quar­ter­fi­nals, Mor­ri­son and Miguel slammed Dil­lon and Mark 21-2, 21-0, while the Jankeys won by de­fault over Roberts and Al­leyne 21-0, 21-0, while Burn­ley and Arther­ly over­whelmed Mor­ri­son and Austin 21-15, 21-14, with Sparks and Ce­de­no hav­ing a bye.
