Bishop Anstey High School was crowned new champions of the Secondary School Girls Rugby League with a 14-3 win over San Juan North Secondary at the Queen’s Park Savannah, yesterday.
Keryce Baptiste and Arissa Romany scored a try each for the winners while Anna Lee Luces had two conversions in the win, which avenged a 12-0 round-robin league defeat to the same opponents.
For San Juan North, Akilah Gomez got their penalty-try.
Both Bishop Anstey and San Juan North entered the final with identical 4-1 records after the latter went under to Bishop’s Centenary College I, 7-5 in league play.
In yesterday’s opener, Amartis Jawahir got two tries, and Anaya Ammon, the other to lead Providence Girls Catholic School past Tranquillity Government Secondary 21-0 for the bronze medals.
Kyiala Simon also chipped in with three conversions for Providence.
