Bliss and Security Analyst Services (SAS) made it six wins on the trot in their respective 35 and under, and 54-60 Divisions when the Queen’s Park Cricket Club (QPCC) 8-A-Side Football Tournament continued at the Queen’s Park Oval, Tragarete Road, Port-of-Spain on Friday night.
In the 35 and Under Division, former national midfielder Sean De Silva and Gary Griffith II scored a hat-trick each to inspire Bliss to a resounding 6-0 blow out of Mini Bar for a sixth win in as many matches, and a maximum of 18 points, .six clear of runner-up Food Drop who blanked Full Barrel 2-0 with a goal each from Luke Ramdeen, and Dillon Abraham while WAM also won 2-0 over Aioli/Spirit Mas thanks to goals from Luke Darwent, and Justin Brooks.
In the 54-60 Division, Gary Griffith Junior and Sean Ramdoo both netted a goal each for the second match in succession for Security Analyst Service (SAS) to shut out last year's winners, M2Gear, 2-0.
With the win, SAS also pushed their points tally to a maximum of 16 points from their six matches, three ahead of closest challenger, The Brix, who got a lone item from league-leading scorer, Jeffrey Dalton-Brown, his tenth in a narrow 1- 0 defeat of DFL.
On Tuesday, when league matches resume, SAS will go into their final match against third-placed T-Rex, needing only a point to be crowned new champions, while The Brix need SAS to drop points while they get a win over M2Gear, if they are to stand a chance to leapfrog the current table leaders for the title.
The race for the league title in the 36-45 category will also go down to the final round of league matches on Tuesday, with the top six teams on the eight-club table separated by two points.
This as the trio of Sheppard Securities, Renew, and title-holders Harts, all have 11 points each from six matches, while Rose ITSL and Micro Milling are next with ten points apiece, and Kyra Investments, next with nine.
On Friday last, Sheppard Securities got a goal each from Shane Hamel-Smith, Ryan Alexander, and Jonny Jardim to beat Onboard Freight & Logistics 3-1, with Renaldo Grant on target for the latter, while Justin Claverie got the lone item for Renew to edge past Rose ITSL 1-0, and Harts spanked Micro Milling led by a hat-trick from Luke Bibby.
