Trinbago Knight Riders (TKR) captain Dwayne Bravo is calling on the public to come out and support the flood relief cricket match scheduled for the Queen’s Park Oval on Saturday evening.
The T&T Cricket Board, Queen’s Park Cricket Club (QPCC) and the Sports Company of T&T (Sportt) have come together to host the match to raise funds for those citizens who were affected by the flood a couple weeks ago, that ravaged east and central Trinidad. Speaking about the upcoming clash Bravo said, “It is always an honour to give back to my people whenever they are in need. I feel assured that all the players are happy and willing to take part in such a game that brings help to persons in need. Most of us have come from humble beginnings so we know and feel for people who are struggling. No matter where we are in the world, we always want to help when needed. North versus South is a big rivalry and I have a message for the South team, ‘we coming for allyuh!"
Although Bravo will be missing out because of a prior engagement in South Africa the North team will still be packed with stars like Keiron Pollard, Lendl Simmons and Sunil Narine amongst them.
South will be led by national captain Denesh Ramdin and will also include players of the calibre of Ravi Rampaul, Nicholas Pooran and Jason Mohammed.
Colin Borde, a member of the organising committee said, “The willingness of the players to come out and support such an important event shows the true warmth of our people. Iraq Thomas from Tobago will be representing our brothers and sister there and it’s going to be a great evening of entertainment for a great cause. To all the nationals who have asked to give of their time and efforts freely, we thank you so much. We are asking for all the support that we can muster as we must ensure that families affected get the still much-needed help.”
Tickets for the clash that gets underway at 6.30pm can be bought at all NLCB outlets, with the proceeds going to United Way to be distributed to the relevant help centres.
