Canadian Professional Dustin Risdon had the only sub-par round shooting a fine 2 under par 70 to take the 36 hole lead on 146 at the T&T Open Golf Championship at the St Andrews Golf Course in Moka, Maraval on Friday.
His performance was over-shadowed only by a hole-in-one by Bill Ramrattan at the 7th hole but, had little effect on him improving his chances at the title.
T&T’s Chris Richards who led after the opening day, had to settle for second position shooting another 74 on the day for a total of 148. Matthew Marquez secured third with 73 and a combine score of 151, while Benjamin Martin joined him in third with a similar 151 at the end of the day. But Timothy Martin's 72 on the luscious greens brought him back into contention with an accumulated score of 152.
In the other scores- Anthony Gill shot a 75 for 155 and Clint Alfred 77 for 158, with the top three players getting the chance to play at the Jamaican Classic Latin American Tour event from April 30.
In the Championship division Gabriel Vanososte of the USA took the advantage with 76, 78 for a total of 154, with Sam Avey a stroke behind 76,79. Three players then follow in third including national football coach Russell Latapy 79, 77, Felix Zamudio also 79, 77 and Ryan Peters 76 80.
Meanwhile Ryan Peters is already positioning himself for the opportunity to represent T&T in the 16-19 Championship Division in Jamaica by taking the front spot on the second day with a combined score of 156.
In the first flight, ex national cricketer Richard Smith and Phillip Subero took the lead after contrasting performances.
Smith had a fine 75 to add to his 86 the day before while Subero's 81 added to his overnight 80, leaving both players with a total of 161.But Omesh Dinanath, the overnight leader got 84 to his 78 for combine 162.
In the second flight Eun Dae Lee led the way with 85,85 for 170 total, Robert Benny 88,84 (172) and Nandlal Ramlakhan 85,87 (172) are tied second.
In the Seniors’ division, defending champion Adrian Sampson on 154 (76,78) led Dave Rajkumar 156,(75,81) by one stroke. Wayne Baptiste (81,76) followed in third
The Super Seniors' champion Fabien Lee Foon 81,78 (159), led John Hale 81,81 (162) with Jalim Ramnarine a further 5 shots back.
The Presidents Cup was led by the T&T pair of Sam Avey 76,79, and Richard “Pecos” Camacho 80, 84 for a 2 day total 319 total. Barbados secured second with Iz Hustler 79,82 and Xzavier Wiggins 85,80 for a 326 total.
