Der­nelle Mas­call and Rene Mike scored two goals each as reign­ing T&T Women’s League Foot­ball (WoLF) cham­pi­ons Tiger Tanks Club San­do slammed Play Fit Aa­cad­e­my 6-0 in their Con­fer­ence Cup knock­out en­counter on Sun­day (June 9).

Play­ing at the St James Po­lice Bar­racks Ken Cooke Ground, Long Cir­cu­lar Road, St James, Port-of-Spain, Club San­do wast­ed lit­tle time in find­ing the open­er through vet­er­an for­mer na­tion­al play­er Mas­call in the fifth minute be­fore Mike made it 2-0 in the 25th fol­lowed by Mas­call's sec­ond item in the 39th for a 3-0 half-time cush­ion.

On the hour mark, Mike al­so got her sec­ond to ex­tend Club San­do's mar­gin to a 4-0 lead be­fore Ja­van­nah Moreno got her first of the af­ter­noon three min­utes lat­er for a 5-0 ad­van­tage.

Na­tion­al de­fend­er Chel­cy Ralph added her name to the score­sheet with the fi­nal kick of the match three min­utes in­to time added on for Club San­do to shoot to the top of the three-team Group One stand­ings while the sec­ond match on the af­ter­noon be­tween host Po­lice FC and AIA in Group Two at the same venue was not played.

Over in To­ba­go at Mt Gomery Recre­ation Ground, To­ba­go Chi­cas and Black Pan­thers got con­trast­ing wins in their Group Three match-ups.

In the open­er, To­ba­go Chi­cas got sec­ond-half goals from Ne­icha Her­cules in the 48th minute and Shiv­ell Williams ten min­utes to se­cure a come-from-be­hind win over Jew­els who led ear­ly on via an 11th minute strike fom Ty'Kaiya Den­nis.

And in the sec­ond match, Black Pan­thers blanked Com­bined Ballerz 2-0 with a goal each from Dar­rel­cia Nel­son, a 22nd minute penalt, and the oth­er from Ja­da Gra­ham in the 77th.

Last sea­son, Club San­do won the Trinidad Claire George Con­fer­ence as well as the four-club In­ter-Is­land ti­tle with a 2-0 de­feat of AC Port-of-Spain in the ti­tle match.

The tour­na­ment will con­tin­ue on Sun­day (June 16) with Club San­do host­ing Queen's Park Crick­et Club (QPCC) in Group One, and Po­lice meet­ing De­fence Force in Group Two in the two Trinidad match­es while in To­ba­go in Group Three, Jew­els tack­le Black Pan­thers, and Com­bined Ballerz come up against To­ba­go Chi­cas.

In the third and fi­nal group match day, on June 23, Queen’s Park Crick­et Club (QPCC) faces Play Fit in Group One; AIA faces De­fence Force in Group Two, and in Group Three, Jew­els bat­tle Com­bined Ballerz with To­ba­go Chi­cas meet­ing Black Pan­thers.

At the end of the round-robin phase, the best run­ner-up from Group One/Group Two faces the run­ner-up of Group Three for a spot in the semi­fi­nals on June 30, ver­sus the Group Two win­ner, while Group One win­ner meets Group Three win­ner in the oth­er fi­nal-four en­counter for places in the fi­nal.
