Cougars Track and Field Club landed their ninth consecutive NGC/NAAATT Juvenile Championship success when they defeated their nearest rival Memphis Pioneers Athletic Club by 133 points when the two-day meeting concluded at the Hasely Crawford Stadium, Mucurapo on Sunday.
Going into the final day of competition, Cougars had a lead of 98 points and just kept moving further and further away as the day's programme unfolded.
Cougars the Juvenile Champions since 2011 blotted their copy-book in the final relay event of the five on the day's programme. After winning the Under 13 Girl's 1000 metres sprint relay, were some ten metres clear in the final event but try as anchor Makaelan Woods did with his superb run he just could not contain the fiery finish of Dabadie's Kymani Felix who also won made it three gold medals, after winning the Under 13 Boy's shot put and discus events.
Cougars amassed a total of 321 points and were outstanding in the relays as they reeled off four wins from four starts.
Nathaniel Charles of Jaguars completed the sprint double after winning the 200 metres event for the Under 13 Boys. He sped to victory in a time of 25.69 to edge Immani Mathews of Toco Titans yet again. Third place went to Tristin Mathews of FAS.
Keziah Peters of Simplex was simply the best Under 13 girl of the two-day meet after she completed the sprint double by winning the 200 metres event yesterday in impressive fashion. She raced to victory in 27.14 seconds with Kamilla Swan of Burnley taking the silver medal in 27.73 seconds with Jenna Marie Thoms coming in third in 27.94 seconds.
Genesis Keston Cape upset the favourites in the Under 11 Boy's 150 metres race when he got home some three-hundredths of a second ahead of Akul Simon of Memphis Pioneers in a driving finish. Micah Bain of Memphis finished third in the time of 20.82 seconds.
The Mc Laren sisters continued their domination of the Under 13 Girl's category as Toco Tafac had another one-two finish in the Girl's Under 11 150 metres event when twins Jenique Mc Laren led from start to finish to be ahead of Jenniah Mc Laren with Jade Jones of Abilene in third. The winner recorded a time of 20.91 seconds.
In the Under 9 Boy's 80 metres dash Ajani Taylor waved to the crowd after winning for Cougar. He edged Jamlly Mark of Memphis Pioneers with a time of 11:58 seconds. Mark clocked 11:63 seconds and Caden Thomas also of Cougars crossed the finish line in third place in 11.77 seconds.
Jael Peters of Burnley was superb in the Girl's Under 9 80 metres dash as she dismissed the opposition in the winning the sprint double. She sped to victory in the 80 metres test after clocking a time of 11:80 seconds with Daija Reid of Zenith second in 12:50 seconds. They were followed by Akilah Chinapoo of Simplex Athletic Club in third place 12.65 seconds.
