The 2019 Caribbean Premier League (CPL) has gotten a refresher with Angostura Lemon Lime and Bitters (LLB) signing on as the tournament’s official refresher partner.
The three-year deal was signed on Wednesday but the details of the agreement remain undisclosed.
Speaking at the launch, Angostura’s executive manager for corporate services and marketing Rahim Mohammed said the partnership will benefit the communities of Trinidad and Tobago.
He said, “Everything we do, we keep our community in mind so through CPL we will be running a cricket camp for the kids in the community with some top-class cricketers who will be joining us in the first week of September.”
With a number of commercial partners on board with CPL, the acting Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Angostura Ian Forbes says the beverage company will provide a unique experience for the tournament and by extension the fans.
“We intend to bring fun, excitement and thirst-quenching refreshment to cricket fans throughout the region and look forward to a long and mutually beneficial association with the tournament,” said Forbes.
The partnership comes as Angostura celebrates its 195th anniversary. The CPL’s Australian commercial director, Jamie Stewart, recalled how growing up in Perth in the 1970s, LLB was an extremely popular drink mixed by bartenders around the country. “It is a true pleasure all these years later to welcome this tremendous company and its signature offering Angostura Lemon Lime and Bitters as the “Refreshment Partner” of CPL,” Stewart said.
The 2019 CPL bowls off on September 4 at the Queens Park Oval when the defending champions Trinbago Knight Riders takes on the St Kitts and Nevis Patriots from 7pm in the tournament opener.
