The Trinidad and Tobago senior cricket team will be heading to Guyana for two warm-up matches ahead of their trip to India for the Champions League, which gets going on October 4. Manager of the national cricket team Colin Borde said the team was invited to Guyana and it is a good opportunity for the guys to gel together and get some cricket under their belts. "The weather has not been good in Trinidad and we are lucky to get this opportunity to go across to Guyana and play some cricket. We are going there on Friday and will play a Guyana XI in two Twenty/20 matches on Friday night and Saturday night at the Providence Stadium.
Strategically it is good for us because Guyana is just one hour away and we are getting the opportunity to play under lights at the Providence Stadium." The match is being organised by West Indies batsmen Dwayne Bravo and Ramnaresh Sarwan. Borde added: "This opportunity gives our players the chance to gel together. We come back to Trinidad on Sunday and we have one week's preparation again before leaving the next Sunday for India."
