Shiv­nar­ine Chan­der­paul yes­ter­day achieved an­oth­er mag­i­cal mile­stone in his out­stand­ing crick­et ca­reer. The ever-re­li­able left-han­der reached 19,000 in his first-class ca­reer as he made 20 in the sec­ond in­nings for Lan­cashire against Som­er­set in their Eng­lish Coun­ty Cham­pi­onship match.

In the first in­nings of the match he made 56–his 97th first-class half-cen­tu­ry and now his num­bers show 19,007 runs in 260 first-class match in a ca­reer which has spanned 18 years. Un­for­tu­nate­ly he end­ed up on the los­ing side as Som­er­set had an easy vic­to­ry by nine wick­ets at the Coun­ty Ground in Taunton.
