Jus For Fun Vikings remain in first place after a closely contested 5-5 result with the tenacious De Original Game Shot (DOGS) in match-day seven action of the Mixed Format League of Darts A division at No 36 New Street, Port-of-Spain on Tuesday (June 24).
DOGS raced ahead to a 3-1 lead and looked on for a commanding victory but the Vikings put on a brilliant display in the singles round picking up four wins on the bounce taking firm command of the contest to lead 5-3, most notably there was was repeat matchup of the national opens final where Zack Seales took on Joshua Balfour and yet again Seales emerged victorious and appears to have Balfour’s number.
The Vikings had it all in their hands and needed one more point which would have guaranteed victory but the tenacity of DOGS shined through and not all heroes wear capes but Candace Lum Kin of DOGS stepped up for her team in what on paper was a mismatch taking on Charles Assee a top player for Vikings. Lum Kin was able to hold her nerve and put in a turn of the tide performance cutting the lead to 5-4 giving her team the hope to hold on and win the final team game ensuring both teams shared the spoils.
E-Z Lines did what was required and dispatched Drifters 7-3. The victory lifts the reigning champs up to second with one point behind the Vikings. Bullz I and Pub House Pirates shared the spoils a result which favoured Bullz I seeing them maintain safety while the Pirates remain in the drop zone.
