GEORGETOWN, Guyana – Thomas Dooley has arrived in Guyana to take up his new position as head coach of the men’s senior national football team.
The 64-year-old Dooley, a former United States international who holds a UEFA Pro Licence—the highest certification in football coaching globally, is set to have his first training sessions with national players.
Dooley said he was honoured and excited to take on his new role and praised the skill level of the Golden Jaguars.
“I have been deeply impressed by the talent and potential of this group of players, and I firmly believe they can achieve even greater heights,” Dooley said.
His immediate focus will be on assessing the current player pool, building out his technical team, and preparing for future international tournaments.
President of the Guyana Football Federation (GFF), Wayne Forde, said he believed Dooley was the right man for the job as he “brings a full set of tools and expertise” for the federation’s new direction.
