Form is tem­po­rary but class is per­ma­nent and E-Z Lines def­i­nite­ly showed their class to once again suc­cess­ful­ly de­fend the A di­vi­sion ti­tle on the fi­nal day of the T&T Darts As­so­ci­a­tion (TT­DA) Dou­ble In/Dou­ble Out League of Darts at the Kos­mos Mem­bers Club in Port-of-Spain.

The league win­ners were for the first time pushed all the way to the fi­nal day and on­ly won by sev­en points their small­est mar­gin in a very long time since the restart of darts.

E-Z Lines faced off against De Orig­i­nal Game Shot (D.O.G.S.) on the fi­nal day in what was al­ways go­ing to be a feisty clash. D.O.G.S. were ruth­less from the start lead­ing 5-1 at one stage tak­ing the big scalps of James Walk­lin and Paul Joseph in the sin­gles round.

E-Z Lines were able to save their blush­es and soft­en the blow even­tu­al­ly los­ing 6-4, this was their sec­ond de­feat for the sea­son but all the hard work was done ear­ly on in the sea­son to still en­sure the ti­tle re­mained with E-Z Lines. D.O.G.S. of­fi­cial­ly fin­ished in the third spot. Cap­tain of D.O.G.S. Ged­des Fon­cette scored the high­est fin­ish of the evening a 122 (triple 20, triple 18 sin­gle 8). Lestor Legall of D.O.G.S. won the first-ever Gold Dart for his im­pres­sive tal­ly of sev­en 180's this is when a play­er hits all three darts in the bed of the triple 20.

Jus For Fun end­ed their first sea­son in the top flight in sec­ond place af­ter a 7-3 vic­to­ry over Drifters. The en­counter start­ed off straight­for­ward for Jus For Fun rac­ing to an ear­ly 3-0 lead, how­ev­er, Drifters did put up a fight pulling back the score to 3-3 with 4 more legs re­main­ing. Jus For Fun need­ed a big re­sult on the night to get with­in re­spectable touch­ing dis­tance of E-Z Lines, they went on a win­ning romp see­ing out the con­test 7-3 of­fi­cial­ly fin­ish­ing sec­ond, and Drifters se­cured fourth and safe­ty.

Scor­pi­ons topped off their vic­to­ry and pro­mo­tion with a very con­vinc­ing vic­to­ry over Bull­dogs 8-2. Scor­pi­ons could have pulled up the hand­brakes on the night but they steam­rolled Bull­dogs all the way through the en­counter lead­ing 6-1 at one stage. Scor­pi­ons are the B Di­vi­sion cham­pi­ons and will be play­ing their darts in the top flight in the up­com­ing tour­na­ment. Bull­dogs fin­ish in sixth.

Cen­tral Bank (CB) Shoot­ers took on Shang­hai Bulls in what was one of many bat­tles for sec­ond place. CB Shoot­ers learned from their pre­vi­ous en­counter with the Bulls, that their fin­ish­ing was clin­i­cal get­ting them over the line 6-4 which was enough to of­fi­cial­ly se­cure sec­ond place and pro­mo­tion. Shang­hai Bulls fin­ish the sea­son in fourth. Bul­lz I had a chance of clinch­ing pro­mo­tion ver­sus Ran­dom Squad but could on­ly muster a 6-4 win which was not enough see­ing them fin­ish in third. Ran­dom Squad fin­ished bot­tom of the ta­ble their worst fin­ish in the team’s his­to­ry.

Sea Wolves fin­ished in fifth place af­ter a sur­prise 5-5 re­sult when they took on Top Shot. Top Shot fin­ished in sev­enth their best fin­ish to date.

The TT­DA has al­ready sched­uled and planned out the for­mat for the new tour­na­ment which is set to be­gin June 7. The TT­DA is propos­ing a mixed for­mat where both 501 and Mick­ey Mouse will be played, the ex­ec­u­tive thinks it im­por­tant to have con­stant darts play­ing as the na­tion­al team is prepar­ing to de­fend the Caribbean Darts Cup to be held in Ja­maica from Ju­ly 19-28.

The TT­DA is al­so work­ing on fundrais­ers and seek­ing part­ner­ships with cor­po­rate T&T to en­sure the na­tion­al team is ful­ly equipped to re­tain the ti­tle. Tick­ets are on sale for the up­com­ing Bin­go event sched­uled for Ju­ly 6 at Fa­ti­ma Col­lege Hall lo­cat­ed on Mu­cu­rapo Road, St James from 1 pm - 5 pm.
