Mid­field­er Ka­reem Young of Dig­i­cel Pro League cham­pi­ons, bmo­bile Joe Pub­lic was the on­ly un­capped play­er named in the 20-man So­ca War­riors squad that left for Pana­ma yes­ter­day. The So­ca War­riors, com­ing off a 3-1 loss to Ja­maica at the Mar­vin Lee Sta­di­um, Ma­coya, on Au­gust 11 will face Pana­ma on Tues­day in Pana­ma City, be­fore head­ing to a Bel­mopan, Be­lize for a meet­ing with its na­tion­al team on Fri­day Sep­tem­ber 10. The match­es are be­ing used by coach Rus­sell Lat­apy as part of the So­ca War­riors' con­tin­ued prepa­ra­tions for the Dig­i­cel Caribbean Cup Sec­ond Round qual­i­fy­ing group se­ries in T&T from No­vem­ber, 2-6.

Young, a for­mer na­tion­al youth team golfer has been an in­te­gral part of the Joe Pub­lic mid­field which help the team to a his­toric five ti­tles last sea­son along­side fel­low na­tion­al team-mate and club­mates, Trent Noel and Hay­den Tin­to. A hard tack­ling mid­field­er, Young and fel­low Care­nage-res­i­dent and W Con­nec­tion de­fend­er, Jo­evin Jones, are the on­ly two new­com­ers in the squad which was beat­en by Ja­maica 3-1. The play­ers who were part of the team for the Ja­maica match but miss­ing out on the two-match tour are W Con­nec­tion's Shah­don Win­ches­ter, De­von Jamer­son of Ma Pau and the Puer­to Ri­co Is­landers' pair of Keon Daniel and Kendall Jagdeosingh. Win­ches­ter is cur­rent­ly on tri­al with Scot­tish club, Celtic.

The So­ca War­riors will have a busy next few weeks as they are al­so sched­uled to play match­es against An­tigua & Bar­bu­da (Sep­tem­ber 17), St Lu­cia (Sep­tem­ber 21), Guyana (Sep­tem­ber 26), Bermu­da (Oc­to­ber 6) and four days lat­er a re­turn match with Ja­maica.
