Siparia Spurs brought joy to their fans of the "Sand City" when the com­mu­ni­ty team com­plet­ed the dou­ble of league and knock­out in the South­ern Foot­ball As­so­ci­a­tion on Sat­ur­day at Skin­ner Park, San Fer­nan­do. Af­ter edg­ing Pe­nal Rock Road on goal dif­fer­ence to se­cure the Petrotrin Su­per League, the Kevon Bas­combe-skip­pered Spurs turned back Di­a­mond Unit­ed 4-2 in the League Cup fi­nal which brought down the cur­tain at the San Fer­nan­do venue. Spurs had to come from be­hind twice in the match be­fore even­tu­al­ly win­ning in ex­tra time with on­ly nine men af­ter Bran­don Nep­tune was eject­ed five min­utes in­to the sec­ond pe­ri­od and Gre­gor Merez be­ing giv­en march­ing or­ders in the 65th minute.

Fol­low­ing a goal­less firsthalf, Di­a­mond Unit­ed took the lead on­ly for Spurs to equalise through Ker­win Bap­tiste from the penal­ty spot fol­low­ing a foul on Mejias in the box.

Not long af­ter, Di­a­mond Unit­ed reestab­lished the lead which it held un­til the 89th minute when Mejias scored to send the match in­to ex­tra time. Mejias then gave Spurs the lead for the first time with Chris Collins in­creas­ing that lead be­fore the fi­nal whis­tle. Spurs, which is coached by Ver­non Dim­soy, will now join Re­al Mara­cas of the East­ern Foot­ball As­so­ci­a­tion and Ea­gles of the Cen­tral Foot­ball As­so­ci­a­tion as qual­i­fiers for the T&T Foot­ball Fed­er­a­tion's "Cham­pi­on of Cham­pi­ons" Se­ries for pro­mo­tion to the bMo­bile Na­tion­al Su­per League. In the Ex­ec­u­tive Cup fi­nal of the Sec­ond Di­vi­sion last Thurs­day in Pa­lo Seco, Al­trin La Brea All Stars ham­mered PAL Unit­ed 5-0. Lind­say Sher­wood, who was vot­ed "Man of the Match", net­ted a dou­ble with Alvin Alexan­der, Phil­vaughn Jones and Kelvin Her­nan­dez get­ting one each.
