T&T's hand­ball team de­part­ed for the Do­mini­can Re­pub­lic yes­ter­day to com­pete in the first In­ter­na­tion­al Hand­ball Fed­er­a­tion (IHF) Men’s North Amer­i­can and the Caribbean Emerg­ing Na­tions Cham­pi­onship. T&T is along­side Mex­i­co and Mar­tinique in Group B. The win­ner of the NAC Emerg­ing Na­tions Cham­pi­onship will qual­i­fy for the 2019 IHF Emerg­ing Na­tions Cham­pi­onship in Geor­gia this June. Coach, Ken­win Go­den (front row, left), will be in con­trol of the team, which be­gins its cam­paign this af­ter­noon against Mex­i­co which be­gins at 4 pm. To­mor­row, T&T will play Mar­tinique at the same time, with the top two in each of the four groups pro­gress­ing to the quar­ter-fi­nals, which be­gin on Thurs­day. The tour­na­ment wraps on Sun­day with the fi­nal at 8 pm.
