Miguel Angel Hernandez Quijada wanted to prove that he was the best and he certainly did, after he was adjudged the men's overall winner at the National Senior Body Builders and Fitness competition on Saturday night at the Centre of Excellence in Macoya, Tunapuna.
Quijada flexed every muscle of his body to impress the judges with his muscularity and poses to top the Over 75kg category before claiming the overall prize while the winner of the Under 75kg division, Damian George, was the runner-up.
George was also the Men's Masters champion, placing ahead of second-placed William Dexter Littrean and third-place finisher Cletious Julien. Wazim Mohammed and 78-year-old Urias Mc Hutcherson filled the other two spots, respectively. Mc Hutcherson took home the top prize in the Men's Masters (over 70) category.
Sleek well-defined bodies were presented in the men's physique contest and it was Alistair French the winner on the night ahead of Dillon Lackhai while Stephan Maxwell reigned in the Classic Bodybuilding competition.
Christiana Cassie was rewarded for her love of exercising as she copped the women's Open Bodyfitness (figure) competition. Her sculptured body wowed the judges to defeat Karen Thomas-George, who was second-best and Sherrie-Ann Singh into third.
Among the other winners in the women's contests, Tobagonian Angela Campbell had the best physique while Malaika Ballantyne landed the top spot in the Bikini Fitness category. Winning the Bikini Wellness Open contest, which was introduced last year, was Kerneka Waldron. Other participants Rosalie Dolalaille withdrew from the competition.
