Daniel Lewis scored a penalty kick in each half to lead promoted Hillview College to a stunning 5-2 come-from-behind whipping of host St. Anthony’s College in their rescheduled 2026 Sport Secondary Schools Football League (SSFL) Boys’ Premier Division Round. One match at St. Anthony’s College Ground in Westmoorings Monday (September 21).
The match was originally carded for last Wednesday’s opening round of competition in the 17-team league but was postponed due to a waterlogged field with both teams coming off losses in their second-round matches last Saturday and eager for a win.
Within ten minutes of the start, St. Anthony’s, beaten 3-0 away by Speyside, went ahead through Giovanni Bartholomew, but the visitors managed to tie up proceedings via Lewis’ first penalty in the 20th minute.
Three minutes later, Jahmarley Ellis fired the visitors ahead, and eight minutes before the half-time interval, Cristiano Hinds extended the lead to 3-1.
Two minutes into the second half, Lewis slotted home another penalty for a 4-1 advantage for Hillview, which they extended further through Hezikah Charles in the 59th minute for a 5-1 lead before Malique Marshall got a second for the ‘Westmooring Tigers’ in the 70th.
In the end, Hillview managed to keep hold of their lead to rebound from their 4-3 home loss to Arima North Secondary to join six other teams on three points after two matches, four adrift of leaders Speyside High School, who have played a match more, while sending St Anthony’s to a second defeat in as many matches to start the season to remain in the bottom two spots alongside fellow pointless team Trinity College Moka. Round Three matches take place on Wednesday (September 23).
