Reyad Jerome helped himself to four wickets that guided Central Zone to a four-run victory over South West in the final T&T Cricket Board (TTCB) Under 13 Interzone match at the National Cricket Centre, in Balmain Couva on Wednesday.
Central batted first and scored 113 all out on a pitch that made things difficult for batters. Opener Trystan Cambridge scored 21 from 31 balls to top score for Central. Cambridge was the second batsman to loss his wicket with the score on 52 at the end of the 13th over.
After his wicket, Central crumbled, losing their next eight wickets for 61 runs.
K’hill Thomas scored 15 runs and Reyad Jerome scored 14. Nikhil Manick was the only other batter to reach double figures 10.
Arun Harry took three for 17 while Eshanan Deopersad took three for 23.
In reply South West started shaky, losing Jaden Seurattan for four with the score on four for one. Arun Henry (10) and Nityum Craig Mongru (26) put on a 46-run partnership, while Aidan Choon, batting at number six, top-scored with 28, hitting four fours in his 34-ball knock.
But at 96 for 6 South-West was in the driver’s seat, needing 18 runs to win. But they lost the wickets of Daniel Mohammed, Aidan Choon, Aiden Rampersad and Varun Mahadeo in the space of 13 runs as South-West were bowled out for 109, handing Central victory by four runs.
Reyad Jerome took four for 25 and K’hill Thomas three for 28.
