Hibiscus Women Cricket Club's Shania Kistow and Caneisha Isaac ripped apart the batting line-up of Players Sports Club to earn their team a huge nine-wicket victory in the T&T Women's Cricket Association's (TTWCA) Premiership Division 50-over League on Sunday afternoon.
The bowlers shared the spoils evenly, with Kistow and Isaac each taking an impressive four wickets as a batting collapse left Players Sports all out for just 63 in 26.3 overs in a match played in George Village, Tableland.
Sumintra Ramsawak (12) and Le Sean Benn (11 not out) were the only batters to make reasonable scores as their teammates fell without reaching double figures. Players Sports never recovered as Kistow and Isaac each bowled superb spells to finish with 4/12 and 4/19, respectively.
In reply, Hibiscus, the top team on the five-team table with 12 points, needed only 12.2 overs to get to the winning score of 67, losing just one wicket. Leading the batting for Hibiscus were Shari John (26 not out) and Leeann Kirby (12 not out).
In the other match in the division, Samantha Bissoon shined with both bat and ball to see Phoenix Women to a 61-run win victory over Technocrats.
The allrounder felt comfortable playing at Macaulay Park in California, first leading all run-scorers with 45 then claimed three wickets to help Phoenix to its third victory from four rounds of matches.
Phoenix, who is in the second spot on the points table with nine points, batted first and posted 166 all out. Bowlers Amanda Samaroo and Stacy Ann King toiled down the other end and did. Samaroo took 3/32 and was ably supported by King with 2/30 to send back Phoenix in 48.5 overs.
In reply, Akeira Peters with a steady 33 and an unbeaten 20 from Orie Trotman, tried their best to lift the team but Technocrats were bowled out for a disappointing 105 in 35.5 overs.
Bissoon returned to secure 3/32 while Renelle Dookie also picked up three wickets for 22 runs and Felicia Walters had figures of 2/15, to handle the Technocrats' batters.
In the Championship Division, Achievers Women CC defeated Cricket Lovers by eight wickets at Bamboo Recreation Ground; the University of the West Indies (UWI) Lionesses defeated JFK by a narrow two runs at Esmeralda Recreation Ground; and at Bank Village in St Mary's, Brickfield Warriors beat Waterloo All-Stars by three wickets.
