All four teams picked up points in Mon­day’s (June 24) resched­uled dou­ble-head­er in the De­porti­vo Point Fortin (PF) Com­mu­ni­ty Foot­ball League as both match­es end­ed in draws.

Orig­i­nal­ly set to play on Sat­ur­day (June 22) at the La Brea recre­ation­al ground, but due to un­fore­seen cir­cum­stances, the match­es be­tween New Vil­lage Foot­ball Club (FC) and Vance Riv­er Ball­stars and La Brea All Stars and Point Ligoure Unit­ed were post­poned to Mon­day at a new venue, Ma­haica Sport­ing Com­plex.

How­ev­er, the shift did not af­fect the com­pet­i­tive­ness of the match­es as the re­sults showed. In the first af­fair, Prince Pas­cal opened the scor­ing in the 19th minute for New Vil­lage FC and the team seemed to be head­ing in­to the half with a 1-0 lead un­til Vance Riv­er man­aged to pull one back in the 44th thanks to Kurlan Khan.

In the sec­ond half, both teams tried to get the win­ner but it nev­er came, re­sult­ing in the teams go­ing away with a point each on Match Day three in the third edi­tion of the CFL.

Lat­er, La Brea All Stars and Point Ligoure Unit­ed al­so earned a point fol­low­ing their 2-2 draw.

Akiel Ja­cob scored the open­er in the 40th minute for Point Ligoure to give his team a 1-0 at half­time. It didn’t take La Brea long to equalise as five min­utes in­to the re­sump­tion, Mar­cus Joseph (50th) found the back of the net. Sev­en min­utes lat­er, his team-mate Om­ri Baird (57th) dou­bled up La Brea’s lead, 2-1.

The La Brea unit seemed to be head­ing to a win in its open­ing match in the foot­ball league, de­signed by De­porti­vo PF as a crime-fight­ing ini­tia­tive, but Nathaniel Mitchell spoiled the cel­e­bra­tion, scor­ing the equalis­er in the 88th minute for Point Ligoure.

These match­es were stark­ly dif­fer­ent from Fri­day’s lop­sided dou­ble-head­er al­so played in Ma­haica.

In the first match, Ma­haica FC whipped Pace Lake­view Unit­ed, 6-0, and lat­er, Pa­lo Seco Trip­py FC crushed Cochrane Chal­lengers, 5-0.

Je­re­mi­ah Ke­sar scored a brace to lead the on­slaught by the Ma­haica team. He net­ted the open­ing item in the sixth and then scored his and the host team’s sec­ond goal in the 13th.

His name­sake Je­re­mi­ah Niles (34th), Jah­mali Cob­ham (59th), and Malachi Webb (63rd) were the oth­er play­ers on tar­get.

In the lat­er match, all five goals came in the first half. Dez Jones scored as ear­ly as the third minute. Shack­iel Hen­ry was next to add his name to the score­sheet in the 24th fol­lowed soon af­ter by Mick­ell Charles in the 27th. Ju­dah Gar­cia closed off the scor­ing with a pair of goals for Trip­py FC in the 37th and 40th.

Ac­tion re­sumes to­day at the Ma­haica Sport­ing Com­plex with an­oth­er dou­ble-head­er.

Kick-off time is at 6 pm. Ad­mis­sion is $30 for adults, chil­dren, ages six to 12 is $15, while five and un­der are free. There is group ad­mis­sion, four adults for $100.
