Neil Latchmansingh and Sarah Ramphal hold commanding leads after the opening day of the annual Rudder-Alexander Golf Tournament at Chaguaramas Golf Course on Saturday.
Latchmansingh shot 71 to hold a five-shot lead over Wayne Baptiste (76) in the Men's Championship Division, with 2012 champion Richard Camacho (77) holding on to third place.
Camacho lost out in 2017 to Clint Alfred, who has now turned professional and is unable to defend the title.
In the women's championship, Ramphal, a national junior player, carded 81 to open up a seven-shot advantage over Tori Baptiste (88), with Leonita Wilson a distance back in third place (100).
The First Flight is a hotly-contested affair, with 2017 Second Flight winner Jean-Marc Chevrotiere (77) holding a slim two-shot lead over former national footballer Christon Baptiste (79), with Noel Lutchman is third with 80.
With 14-year-old Chevrotiere now contesting the First Flight, a new champion will also be crowned in the Second Flight.
Sherman St Louis is the leader after Day 1 with 86, but right on his heels are Matthew Gomez Burke (89), and Clinton Brewster (92).
The Rudder-Alexander tournament honours two of the outstanding golf professionals in Trinidad and Tobago history, Fitzroy Rudder and Victor Alexander.
Both men were Humming Bird Medal winners and contributed indelibly to the development of golf in Trinidad and Tobago.
