Former T&T netballer Kalifa Mc Collin has signed with Malaysian Netball Super League club Kedah Sunshine for the 2026 season, the fifth edition.
Mc Collin, who plays both the goal-attack and goal-shoot positions, was recently named the ‘Most Valuable Player’ of the Courts All Sectors Netball League for the third season in a row and now joins a host of international players from renowned netball nations, including Australia, New Zealand, Jamaica, South Africa, Uganda, Malawi, Zimbabwe, and Botswana, in an effort to enhance the league’s competitiveness and provide local players with valuable exposure.
The 30-year-old Mc Collin previously played in England at both the Celtic Dragons (2016-2017, 2019) and London Mavericks (2018) as well as with Southern Steel in the ANZ Premiership in New Zealand in 2020 and the Suncorp Australian Netball Super League with the now defunct Collingwood Magpies.
KL Wildcats are the defending champions, having defeated Putrajaya Dynamites in the NSL 2025 final 46-45.
The other teams are Johor Jewels, KL Wildcats, Melaka Mystique, Negeri Sembilan Venom, Pahang Tulips, Perak Phoenix and Selangor Angels.
CelcomDigi Berhad (CelcomDigi) is also joining NSL for the first time as title sponsor, reflecting the corporate sector’s confidence in the league’s potential as a platform for advancing women’s professional netball in Malaysia.
Astro, in collaboration with the Malaysian Netball Association (PBJM), will officially jump off on Saturday, April 11, at Stadium Juara, Bukit Kiara, with the eight teams competing in 64 matches across the six-week season.
A key highlight of the 2026 season is the NSL Regional Cup, which will take place from May 14 to 17 May 2026, following the conclusion of the main league. The tournament will feature two invitational teams from Singapore and Hong Kong, together with the top two NSL teams.
