Alo­ra Morang and Yandy Stafford set the stan­dard for ex­cel­lence when the Tots & Tum­blers Gym­nas­tic Club host­ed its an­nu­al in­vi­ta­tion­al at the Wood­brook Youth Fa­cil­i­ty in Port-of-Spain from March 13-15.

Morang, rep­re­sent­ing the Olympia Wolf­pack Gym­nas­tics Acad­e­my (OW­GA), cap­tured the pres­ti­gious Lev­el 10 All-Around ti­tle in a com­pe­ti­tion which fea­tured over 310 fe­male ath­letes.

​The “Op­tion­al” cat­e­gories saw a dom­i­nant show­ing by the host club, Tots & Tum­blers (TTG). Stafford se­cured the Lev­el 9 All-Around ti­tle with a score of 37.150, while Gabriel­la Christo­pher (35.975) took the top spot for Lev­el 8. The Lev­el 7 crown went to Alis­sa Math­ias (38.175), fol­lowed by Lev­el 6 cham­pi­on Kay­dence For­tune (38.200).

​The pro­gres­sion of tal­ent con­tin­ued through the “Com­pul­so­ry” ranks, where pre­ci­sion and per­fect scores be­came the theme of the week­end.

​The judg­ing pan­el, com­prised of four USA Gym­nas­tics of­fi­cials from Penn­syl­va­nia, award­ed an un­prece­dent­ed num­ber of “Per­fect 10.0” scores. Jen­nifer Zheng (OW­GA) shone in the Pre-Com­pet­i­tive Ju­nior di­vi­sion, earn­ing 10.0s on vault, bars, and beam. Oth­er per­fect marks were achieved by Kimo­ra Dun­can of Aca­d­e­m­ic Flip­pers (ACF) on bars and floor, Halle-Marie Fras­er (Lees Gym­nas­tics Club) on bars and beam, and Sa­van­nah Thom­son (TTG) on beam.

​In the team stand­ings, Tots & Tum­blers swept the ma­jor­i­ty of the ti­tles, in­clud­ing Lev­els 1 (Jr), 2, 4, 6, 7, and 9. Aca­d­e­m­ic Flip­pers showed their strength in the Lev­el 1 (Sr), Lev­el 3, and Pre-Com Se­nior cat­e­gories, while OW­GA took home the Pre-Com­pet­i­tive Ju­nior team tro­phy.

​The three-day event fea­tured fe­male ath­letes rang­ing from ages four to 20, rep­re­sent­ing 11 lo­cal clubs and one in­ter­na­tion­al club, Ag­is­ape­ma, from the Do­mini­can Re­pub­lic. The oth­er clubs par­tic­i­pat­ing were Gold­en Stars Gym­nas­tics Acad­e­my (GS­GA), House for Gym­nas­tics (HFG), Lam­bert School of Dance Gym­nas­tics Club (LS­DGC), Mu­cu­rapo Artis­tic Achiev­ers (MAA), St An­drew’s School Gym­nas­tic Club (SAGC) and The­ma Williams Ath­let­ic Acad­e­my (TWAA).

​The three-day event opened with a fea­ture ad­dress by Son­ja John­son, vice pres­i­dent of the T&T Olympic Com­mit­tee. John­son high­light­ed the vi­tal im­por­tance of sport in the lives of young women, a mes­sage that res­onat­ed with the all-fe­male com­pet­i­tive line-up.
