?Six-time champion and favourite Carlos "Sexy" Baynes will start today's third day of the ANSA McAL T&T Amateur Open Golf Tournament with a one shot lead in the Championship Flight at the St Andrew's Golf Course, Moka. The Tobagonian, who started yesterday, the second day one shot behind Deryck Gonsalves, has returned the favour on the 2003 champion. Baynes who has a handicap of one, did not shoot as well as he did on the opening day finishing three over par with a gross of 75, for a total of 149. Gonsalves who has a zero handicap, shot par on day one. However, he was also a bit off, finishing six over with a gross of 78 for a total of 150. James Johnson of Barbados was by far the best player on the day, going one over par for a gross of 73, to hold the third spot with 151.
Adrian Norford of St Kitts and Nevis who was tied at the end of the first day for second with Baynes, is tied with Shane Castelloe, young Jessel Mohammed and Dave Mohammed for the fourth spot on 152. With two days to go and ten players within four shots, the 2010 title race is wide open as the tournament indicates. Roger Branch has taken over the lead in the First Flight, with a gross of 165, after shooting a gross of 81, bettering his first day's performance by one. Omesh Dinnanath is two shots behind with 165, while Ramsingh Boodoosingh who held the lead on the opening day, is third with 169, after a 92 gross yesterday.
Michael Commissiong kept his lead in the Senior division, after shooting 78 for a total of 157. Carlos Beckles also maintains his second spot with 161, shooting 82, while defending champion Robert Costelloe came back into the frame to finish third with 165, after shooting 77. Glen Shah who shot a gross of 85, leads the Second Flight with 178, followed by Shaheed Kondiah with 180 after he shot 94. Cousins Robert and Edward Grell are tied for the lead in the Super Seniors division with 155, after they shot 78 and 75 respectively. Satish Tiwari is next with 159 after shooting 82.
