Youth Olympic gold medallist swimmer Christian Homer joins national record-holder shot putter Cleopatra Borel-Browne and star shooter Roger Daniel as they lead the list of athletes that will be representing T&T at the upcoming Commonwealth Games. The event will be held in New Delhi, India from October 3-14. Homer won gold in the Boys' 50 metres backstroke at the inaugural Games held in Singapore, last month.
Both Borel-Browne and Daniel, won bronze medals at the 2006 Commonwealth Games, held in Melbourne, Australia. The team named by the T&T Commonwealth Games Federation also has a number of medallists from this year's Central American and Caribbean (CAC) Games in Puerto Rico.
Annette Knott will lead the team as the Chef de Mission and she will be assisted by Wendell Labastide. T&T will be represented for the first time by para-athlete Shantol Ince who will participate in three swimming events.
Other participating sports include three team sports, Hockey women and men, gold and silver medallist respectively at the 2010 CAC Games and the netball. Other sports are athletics, archery, aquatics, parasport, boxing, cycling, gymnastics, shooting and squash.
