Rodney Phillip and Rabindra Narine emerged victorious at the Scotiabank Charity Golf Tournament in Moka, Maraval on Friday.

The St Andrew’s Golf Club was buzzing with activity as 48 teams teed off in the 24th edition, with $100,000 being donated to the beneficiary of the tournament this year - the Just Because Foundation.

Phillip and Narine, Scotiabank Access Clients, ended with a score of 44 to emerge victorious, ahead of Amjad Ali and Robin Lewis with a score of 43. Third place was Team 2001 Carpet House, represented by golfers Ravi Deonarine and Shrinivas Mohip scored 42 points, while fourth place was copped by Pooran Singh and Sheriff Babwah of Team Kaisoca Productions, also with a score of 42.

Rounding off the top five was Team Charlett & Gatcliffe Limited’s Robert Conyers and Jason Collier with a score of 42.

Gayle Pazos - Senior Vice President and Managing Director, Scotiabank, was pleased with the charity event.

“Today’s tournament has once again brought together our charitable focus as well as integrated the business of the bank, providing key clients with the opportunity to participate and enjoy the day of golf,” said Pazos.

“This event allows us to adopt a broader cancer-related focus. A cancer diagnosis is upsetting at any age, but especially so when the patient is a child. This year, we’re pleased to announce that the beneficiary of the Golf Tournament is the Just Because Foundation, a childhood cancer support organisation which provides a comprehensive range of emotional, practical and social support services for children with cancer.”

Players enjoyed a full 18 holes of golf, and the game was a 7/8 handicap - 2 Ball Better Ball Stableford.
