T&T senior men's and women's table tennis teams had to settle for bronze medals in the Team competition after losing their semifinals matches at the 60th Senior Caribbean Regional Table Tennis Federation at the National Arena, Kingston, Jamaica, yesterday.
The local men's team was beaten by the Dominican Republic in their semis while the women went under to Guyana, both by 0-3 margins.
In the men's encounter, T&T's Yuvraaj Dookram was overpowered by Samuel Galvez 5-11, 11-5, 8-11, 7-11; Arun Roopnarine was beaten by Emil Santos, 4-11, 9-11, 7-11 and Isaac Villa defeated T&T's Curtis Humphreys11-2, 11-4, 12-10.
In the women's semifinal, T&T went under to Guyana 3-0.
Top-ranked local, Brittany Joseph was beaten by Chelsea Edghill 8-11, 7-11, 3-11; Catherine Spicer fell to Trenace Lowe 10-12, 8-11, 7-11 and Aleena Edwards was overwhelmed by Natalie Cummings 7-11, 5-11, 8-11.
Today, the doubles competition serves off.
