Pro League leaders W Connection was held to a goalless stalemate on Friday night by Defence Force FC, a result that saw them drop vital points for a fourth consecutive time at the Ato Boldon Stadium in Balmain, Couva.
And in another game, Police FC hammered Point Fortin Civic 4-1 to move four points behind the leaders on the 10-team standing.
W Connection, undefeated in the league this season, still holds the top position with 30 points, while Police (26 points) has now replaced Central FC (24 points) as the second-place team, after the “Couva Sharks” were edged 2-1, courtesy a come-from-behind win by Morvant Caledonia United in the second match of a doubleheader at the Hasely Crawford Stadium in Mucurapo.
Jamaica's Ewan Grandison fired the “Couva Sharks” in front after 25 minutes, but former Canada-based winger Aikim Andrews equalized 10 minutes later. And with the game seem to head to the break with the scores knotted at one apiece, Guyanese international Sheldon Holder snatched the winner in the 41st minute.
In the other game at the Mucurapo venue, Kareem Freitas scored his first hat-trick of the season with goals in the 14th, 43rd and 73rd minutes. Jameel Perry scored the other goal for the Lawmen in the 71st, while Tobagonian forward Mickaeel Jem Gordon was the lone scorer for Point Fortin Civic.
Earlier at the Couva venue, Tyrone Charles also scored a hat-trick, that included the winner in the third minute of time added on to guide Club Sando to a 3-2 triumph over San Juan Jabloteh.
Charles, first chipped goalkeeper Shemel Louison from the left in the seventh minute for the opener, and later got his double with a cool finish, from a feed by Akeem Humphrey in the 41st.
But defender Jamal Spencer pulled a goal back in the 43rd before Jomoul Francois fired hard into an open net of goalkeeper Kelvin Henry's goal in the 89th. But with the match heading for a tie, Charles got a late winner in the 93rd minute.
