Pooran to be retained by Super Giants for over US$2 million

KOLKATA – West In­dies su­per­star bats­man Nicholas Pooran has re­port­ed­ly been re-signed by Luc­know Su­per Gi­ants (LSG) as their first-choice re­ten­tion for the up­com­ing 2025 In­di­an Pre­mier League (IPL) sea­son.

Ac­cord­ing to re­ports, the 29-year-old wick­et­keep­er-bats­man was re­cent­ly in the RPSG group’s of­fice in Kolkata where he re­port­ed­ly signed with Luc­know for INR 18 crores, which equates to just over US $2 mil­lion.

In the 2023 auc­tion, LSG bought Pooran for INR 16 crores fol­low­ing his stint with Sun­Ris­ers Hy­der­abad.

“Pooran is com­mit­ted to LSG, pos­sess­es a win­ning mind­set, thinks deep and above all he is adapt­able to the bat­ting or­der and any match sit­u­a­tion,” said an LSG of­fi­cial.

Pooran had a su­perb 2024 IPL sea­son, scor­ing 499 runs in­clu­sive of 35 bound­aries and 36 max­i­mums.

In the re­cent­ly con­clud­ed Caribbean Pre­mier League, the left-hand­ed Trinida­di­an broke the record for the most T20 runs set in a cal­en­dar year.

Ac­cord­ing to the re­port, LSG will go in­to the auc­tion with INR 69 crores af­ter spend­ing INR 51 crores on their five re­ten­tions.

Af­ter Pooran, the likes of Ravi Bish­noi, Mayank Ya­dav, Ayush Badoni and Mohsin Khan will be the oth­er four play­ers that the fran­chise will keep hold of.
