<Thompson sisters help
Paragon hold off Malvern 6-5>
The lone women's Open Division match-up on the weekend was a very entertaining contest with Thompson sisters, Gabrielle and Kristin scoring two goals each in their come-from-behind 6-5 defeat of Malvern.
The pair of former national standout, Oire Trotman and Krizia Layne scored in the first and fourth minutes respectively to put Malvern 2-0 ahead, before Keima Gardiner pulled a goal back for Paragon in the tenth.
Another ex-national player in the Malvern line-up Nicole Aming regained a two-goal cushion for Malvern in the 20th minute, but within seconds of the restart, Naomi Sampson netted for Paragon to pull within a goal again at 2-3 while Thompson (G), the older of the sisters, finally drew her club level in the 22nd and netted another three minutes later for their first lead of the contest at 4-3.
But Paragon's lead was a short-lived one though as Layne quickly drew Malvern level in the 26th minute and netted another in the 35th to complete her hat-trick and give her team a 5-4 advantage.
However, the Malvern players forgot to read the script to Thompson (Kristin) who netted in the 36th-minute to get Paragon level again, before she banged in the decisive item two minutes later to break the hearts of the Malvernites, who won their opener 5-3 over Ventures in the previous fixtures. Matches resume on Saturday.
