Trinidad and Tobago’s top amateur golfers continued their battle for national selection on Thursday as day two of the T&T Golf Association (TTGA) national team trials teed off at the St Andrews Golf Course in Moka.
The second day of competition marked the first round of play at the Moka course, with golfers vying for places on the national team set to represent T&T at the Caribbean Amateur Golf Championships in the Cayman Islands later this year.
At the conclusion of the trials, the top six male finishers and top four female finishers will secure spots on the 10-member national team.
Leading the men’s division after two days is Chris Richards Jr, who continued his impressive form following a stellar start to the year both locally and internationally. Richards Jr holds the advantage heading into the next round after carding a 71 on Thursday.
Liam Bryden sits in second position after shooting a solid 69, while Ethan Collier and Jereseem Boodram are third and fourth with scores of 81. Zico Correia occupies fifth spot with 74, while Wayne Baptiste is sixth with 76.
In the women’s division, Victoria Seenath and Elise Le Borde are tied at the top after both golfers returned scores of 86. Hailey Layne currently sits in third position with 96, while Tori De Freites Baptiste is fourth with 97.
The trials continue today at the St Andrews Golf Course in Moka, with play scheduled to begin from 9 am. The competition will conclude tomorrow at the Chaguaramas Golf Course.
