T&T’s Vasdev ‘Bob’ Roopnarine has been appointed as the table tennis competition manager for the upcoming Central American and Caribbean (CAC) Games in San Salvador, El Salvador from June 21-27.
Speaking about his appointment, an elated Roopnarine, who was recently appointed secretary general of the Caribbean Region Table Tennis Federation (CRTTF) for the term 2023 to 2027 at the recent CRTTF annual general meeting held at Olympic House, Georgetown, Guyana said, “After years of being competition manager in the Caribbean this is indeed an honour for me to be given this opportunity.
“I have been competition manager of a few Pan Am qualifiers and Latin American Championships hosted in the Caribbean, and this will the first championship I am doing outside of the Caribbean.
He added, “It is as a result of being competition manager for three successful Championships in Guyana, and the entire team including myself and the two international referees Dr Hernan Florez of Colombia and Juan Carlos Medina of Venezuela were appointed to the CAC Games in El Salvador.
The CAC qualifiers were the first, followed by the Caribbean Senior Championship, and then the Caribbean Youth (Under-15 and U-19) Championship.
The Senior Caribbean Table Tennis Championship was the qualifier for the Pan Am Championship 2023 while the Youth Championship served as the qualifier for the Pan Am Youth Championship 2023.
