T&T’s Vas­dev ‘Bob’ Roop­nar­ine has been ap­point­ed as the ta­ble ten­nis com­pe­ti­tion man­ag­er for the up­com­ing Cen­tral Amer­i­can and Caribbean (CAC) Games in San Sal­vador, El Sal­vador from June 21-27.

Speak­ing about his ap­point­ment, an elat­ed Roop­nar­ine, who was re­cent­ly ap­point­ed sec­re­tary gen­er­al of the Caribbean Re­gion Ta­ble Ten­nis Fed­er­a­tion (CRT­TF) for the term 2023 to 2027 at the re­cent CRT­TF an­nu­al gen­er­al meet­ing held at Olympic House, George­town, Guyana said, “Af­ter years of be­ing com­pe­ti­tion man­ag­er in the Caribbean this is in­deed an ho­n­our for me to be giv­en this op­por­tu­ni­ty.

“I have been com­pe­ti­tion man­ag­er of a few Pan Am qual­i­fiers and Latin Amer­i­can Cham­pi­onships host­ed in the Caribbean, and this will the first cham­pi­onship I am do­ing out­side of the Caribbean.

He added, “It is as a re­sult of be­ing com­pe­ti­tion man­ag­er for three suc­cess­ful Cham­pi­onships in Guyana, and the en­tire team in­clud­ing my­self and the two in­ter­na­tion­al ref­er­ees Dr Her­nan Flo­rez of Colom­bia and Juan Car­los Med­i­na of Venezuela were ap­point­ed to the CAC Games in El Sal­vador.

The CAC qual­i­fiers were the first, fol­lowed by the Caribbean Se­nior Cham­pi­onship, and then the Caribbean Youth (Un­der-15 and U-19) Cham­pi­onship.

The Se­nior Caribbean Ta­ble Ten­nis Cham­pi­onship was the qual­i­fi­er for the Pan Am Cham­pi­onship 2023 while the Youth Cham­pi­onship served as the qual­i­fi­er for the Pan Am Youth Cham­pi­onship 2023.
