T&T's Vic­to­ria Seenath fin­ished in sec­ond in the Ladies' Di­vi­sion in the Bar­ba­dos Golf Open at the Bar­ba­dos Golf Club in Du­rants, Bar­ba­dos, on the week­end.

Seenath, the top lo­cal fe­male golfer, re­turned a score af­ter three rounds of play of 233.

The Pointe-a-Pierre club mem­ber end­ed eight strokes be­hind the win­ner, Marielle Young of Bar­ba­dos, who re­tained her crown with 225.

Seenath opened with 78 in Round One on Fri­day, five shy of Young's first day score of 73. The San Fer­nan­do-na­tive then pro­duced her best score of 73, one over par, on Sat­ur­day to tal­ly 151 and close the gap on the leader, who hit 74.

How­ev­er, in the third and fi­nal round on Sun­day, Seenath could on­ly muster 82 as her ri­val coped best with the windy con­di­tions to hit 76 and gross 225, to end the three days of play nine over par. Young's com­pa­tri­ot Nef­fer­tari Al­leyne was third (248) with an­oth­er T&T play­er, Tori De Fre­itas-Bap­tiste, in sixth with 267 (95, 86, 86).

Seenath and De Fre­itas are prepar­ing for the de­fence of their Caribbean Four Ball Cham­pi­onships Ladies 25 plus ti­tle in Mon­tego Bay, Ja­maica, from Oc­to­ber 10-12. Seenath told Guardian Me­dia Sports she was pleased with her sec­ond round score of 73.

"I hit a lot more greens and putts. How­ev­er, on the last day, I missed some putts and had to cope with more winds," Seenath said, adding that she was just hap­py to get in some play. "It was good com­pe­ti­tion. (I just want­ed) to com­pete and com­pete over three days."

Seenath col­lect­ed the Net Prize with a score of 215 ahead of Al­leyne (224) and an­oth­er Bar­ba­di­an Kaira Wil­son (225).

Choon Singh had to set­tle for third spot in the Men's Sec­ond Flight with 274 (93, 91, 90) with an­oth­er T&T play­er, Pointe-a-Pierre's Zaid Khan in fourth (303-99, 100, 104). The two were de­nied by the Bar­ba­di­an pair of Con­nor Proud­foot (264-91, 87, 86) and Cyrus Cum­mings (270 (91, 91, 88). Singh al­so col­lect­ed the prize for the third Net score (229).

Bri­an Fares missed out on a top-three fin­ish in the men's First Flight, fin­ish­ing in fourth. The Mil­len­ni­um Golf Club mem­ber had a score of 250 (82, 82, 86) as Bar­ba­di­an Joshua Sam­bra­no se­cured the top spot with 239 (77, 79, 83) ahead of Michael Williams of St Kitts & Nevis 241 (83, 80, 78) and an­oth­er host coun­try golfer, Roger Bryan (246-84, 78, 84). Fares did have the con­so­la­tion of re­turn­ing to T&T with the top net prize with 220.

Daniel Ja­cob (258-90, 82, 86) and Sham­mi Seep­er­sad (272-90, 84, 87) were eighth and ninth in the Su­per Se­niors with To­bag­on­ian Namdeo Boodram in 15th (288-91, 98, 99).

Bob­by Edghill en­sured the Cham­pi­onship ti­tle stayed in Bar­ba­dos with 214 (70, 70, 74). Edghill edged out the 2024 win­ner Si­mon Proverds (216-74, 69, 73) with Nicholas Phillip in third (220-75, 70, 75) in a Bar­ba­dos sweep of the top three places.
