Sisters Abigail and Inara Chin-Lee seem to be setting up a family affair in the finals of the Girls’ Under-12 Singles division of the Sagicor Junior Tennis Tournament at the Trinidad Country Club in Maraval.
Yesterday, the sisters, who met in the final of the Methanol Holdings Junior Tennis Tournament a year ago, advanced to the semifinal after superior performances over Kate Broughton 4-1, 4-1 and Eva Pasea 4-1, 4-2.
Victory for the girls today will see them contest a final against each other for the second time in two years.
Meanwhile, the Boys’ Under-12 quarterfinals have given number one seed Alexander Merry a chance for precious metal by virtue of beating Rizwaan Mohammed on court one - 4-1, 4-0. Like the Ching Lee siblings, Merry moved into the semis along with Jordell Chapman, who prevailed over Jayden Mitchell in three sets 3-5, 5-4(5), 1-04 and Kayden Siewrattan, who got the better of Yohance Solomon 1-4, 5-3, 10-5.
In the Under-14 category, there were also semifinal qualifications for Daniel Jeary, who went through at the expense of Alex Chin in the boys’ singles and Kale Dalla Costa, who defeated Neil Maraj 6-1, 6-0.
