T&T’s Daynte Stewart tallied 21 points and two service aces to lead Indiana Tech volleyballers to an entertaining 25-19, 25-15, 17-25, 21-25, 15-6 triumph over host Goshens College at Ruth Gunden Gymnasium, Goshen, Indiana on Tuesday night.
Mason Milan added 18 points and Raekwon Rogers got nine kills and six blocks in the five-set win for Indiana Tech to improve their record to 22-5 on the season, and 13-4 in the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) while Goshen dropped to 12-13 on the season, and 6-10 in the WHAC.
For Goshen, Hasan Hadzic led all scorers with 22 points, while Ishmail Bangura added 14, and Sawyer Frystak seven in the loss.
The win for Stewart and his teammates came on the back of a five-set loss to Lawrence Tech on Saturday last at their Schaefer Centre, Fort Wayne, Indiana, 22-25, 22-25, 25-19, 25-20, 12-15 despite Stewart firing down a match-high 18 kills and Milan, 17.
Overall, Indiana Tech who will play their two final season matches against Warner University Friday and Lourdes, a day later, before starting defence of their title in the WHAC Tournament on Tuesday is third on the Conference standings.
At the top of the standings is Lourdes with a 16-1 record in conference play, and 16-8 on the second while Cornerstone is second at 13-3 in the WHAC and 19-4 on the season, with Mount Vernon Nazarene, fourth with a record of 10-6 in conference and 14-8 overall.
