Between the hours 6-7 pm on Monday, students from nine Tertiary level institutions including the University of the West Indies (UWI), the College of Science, Technology and Applied Arts of T&T (COSTAATT), the University of the Southern Caribbean (USC), the University of T&T (UTT), MIC Institute of Technology, ROYTEC, School of Business and Computer Science (SBCS), Cipriani Labour College and the UWI Open Campus will celebrate the International Day of University Sport (IDUS) with a virtual aerobic burnout.

The event has been proclaimed and supported by UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation). In its fifth edition, IDUS has been mobilising students to embrace physical activity as a part of their daily campus lives.

President of the Tertiary Sport Association of T&T (TSATT), Ian Pritchard, shared that all university students, staff, friends, family, and all of T&T can join in the activities.

The aerobic event will be coordinated by Brent Elder and Orlando Pyle, who are considered two giants in the fitness fraternity of T&T.

Le-Roy Pierre, vice president, Events and Competitions at TSATT and Sports Coordinator at USC said: "TSATT continues to promote the importance of healthy living and healthy lifestyle practices among all member institutions. We deem this celebration of the IDUS as an integral day in the calendar of events by TSATT.

"This year our Virtual Aerobic Burnout is expected to engage hundreds of enthusiastic students and staff from our member institutions. We are also encouraging all of T&T to join in on this fun and exciting activity. Through this event, we are hoping to create further awareness of the benefits of physical activity. We hope that it will encourage persons to get involved in daily movement activities as a start towards leading a more active lifestyle."

On September 20 each year, the International University Sports Federation (FISU) celebrates IDUS worldwide.
