Liam Trepte, the recently crowned National Road Criterium champion, will lead a five-man T&T team to the Elite Road Caribbean Cycling Championships in Guadeloupe on the weekend (October 14 and 15).
The Raiders Cycle and Multisport club rider has enjoyed several successes in recent times, inclusive of the road criterium which took place over 16 laps some two Sundays ago, as well as the Under-23 title in the same event.
Trepte will be joined by Rondell Woods, Maurice Burnette, Enrique de Comarmond and Benjamin Mouttet, the winner of the T&T Cycling Federation's (TTCF) Road Series stage five at Trincity Industrial Estate in May.
The regional event pedals off on Saturday with the Time Trial, while the Road Race will take place the following day. All the riders took part in the Tobago Cycle Classic and though they did not place among the top five in division two, they will be hoping to improve at the regional championships.
The team is being coached by Ashton Williams while Rowena Williams, president of TTCF, is the manager. Williams (Rowena) will also attend the cycling congress while there. Joshua Alexander, a former national cyclist, will be the mechanic.
