BRIDGETOWN, Bar­ba­dos – The Bar­ba­dos Tri­dents are the hottest team in the Caribbean Pre­mier League right now af­ter dis­man­tling the Guyana Ama­zon War­riors by six wick­ets to record their fourth straight win in Bar­ba­dos on Sun­day.

Be­fore a mas­sive home crowd at Kens­ing­ton Oval, the Tri­dents made light work of the Ama­zon War­riors’ bat­ting by bowl­ing them out for their low­est to­tal of the sea­son so far – a pal­try 99 in 18.1 overs.

Bran­don King then scored an un­beat­en 44 at the top of the or­der and Shadrack Descarte blud­geoned 32 off just 20 de­liv­er­ies to see the home side to a pre­dictable win at Kens­ing­ton Oval as they reached 100 for four in 14.5 overs.

Off-spin­ner AM Ghaz­an­far was the star of the Tri­dent’s bowl­ing at­tack, with his three wick­ets in the third over leav­ing the Ama­zon War­riors in com­plete de­spair.

He be­gan by hav­ing Maven­dra Dindyal stumped with the third ball and fol­lowed up by hav­ing the usu­al­ly de­pend­able Shai Hope caught at sil­ly mid-on two balls lat­er, and then dis­missed Shim­ron Het­my­er for a first-ball duck to leave them wob­bling at 15 for three.

And when George Linde joined in the ac­tion by ac­count­ing for the wick­ets of Glen Phillips for 24 and Dwaine Pre­to­rius with suc­ces­sive de­liv­er­ies in the eighth over, the Ama­zon War­riors were reel­ing on 38 for five.

It was a po­si­tion they would not re­cov­er from, as pac­er Jo­hann Layne, play­ing in his first match of the sea­son, ran through the mid­dle or­der by dis­miss­ing Mehidy Hasan Mi­raz, Quentin Samp­son and Ronal­do Al­imo­hamed for a first-ball duck to leave them in fur­ther dis­tress at 67 for eight.

Ghaz­an­far, who was named Play­er-of-the-Match, fin­ished with 3-17, Layne took 3-14 and Linde 2-13.

King then played a re­spon­si­ble in­nings that re­quired 42 balls to see the home side to a rel­a­tive­ly easy vic­to­ry.

The Tri­dents lost the wick­ets of Zachary Carter, Quin­ton de Kock and Sher­fane Ruther­ford along the way, but a 41-run part­ner­ship with Descarte for the fourth wick­et sealed the deal.

King hit three fours and two six­es in his un­beat­en knock, while Descarte thumped three six­es and two fours to hur­ry the pro­ceed­ings be­fore he be­came the sec­ond of Mi­raz’s two wick­ets, with the out­come al­ready de­cid­ed.
