It will be an all-T&T affair in the final of the Boys Under-12 Division of the International Tennis Federation (ITF)/COTECC Sub Region Four 12&Under Team Competition at the National Racquet Centre in Orange Grove, Tacarigua on Friday.
The country's second team (boys) secured a place in the final after defeating Curacao 3-0 on court one. The unbeaten Isaiah Boxill, Kale Dalla Costa were again in a no-nonsense mood, winning 6-4 7-6(5), 6-3 1-6 6-0, over Zahyd Josephia and Kyan Henriquez respectively in the first two rubbers, before the pair of Boxill and Jayden Mitchell sealed the win in the doubles with a 6-3, 6-3 triumph at the hands of Curacao's Josephia and Ricardo Winkle on Thursday.
They will face their compatriots from T&T Team 1 (Zachery Byng, James Hadden and Alexander Merry) who prevailed over Suriname by a similar 3-0 margin. Like in the earlier match, Byng and Hadden made light work of Aarush Moorjani 6-0 6-0 and Jair Akaamba 6-0 6-1 in their respective singles matches.
The duo of Byng and Merry then went through the formality in the doubles encounter by winning 6-0 6-1 to set up a mouth-watering affair with their compatriots from 10 am.
T&T's girls' team 1 (Jordane Dookie, Cameron Wong and Jaeda-Lee Daniel-Joseph), also qualified for the final by virtue of clobbering Curacao 3-0 in a 1-4 play-off. Dookie was a 6-1 6-1 winner over Dewi Nissa: Wong got the better of Gianni Martis 6-0 6-1 and the pair of Daniel-Joseph and Wong defeated Nissa/Rania Hollander 6-1 6-0 for a final berth.
They will meet Guyana who defeated Antigua/Barbuda 2-1 in the other 1-4 play-off. Meanwhile, St Vincent and the Grenadines missed out on an opportunity to play for 5-7 when they were beaten by T&T's team 2 of Brianna Harricharan, Inara Chin Lee and Eva Pasea 3-0.
